Drs. Lawless and Wiesemann are orthodontic specialists in Bowling Green, Russellville, Franklin and Glasgow, Kentucky. Together, they strive to provide their patients with the most advanced and comprehensive orthodontic care available.
Dr. Jay Lawless
Dr. Lawless is a 1988 graduate of Bowling Green High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree with Honors from the University of Kentucky in 1992, before graduating with Distinction at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 1996. Dr. Lawless then completed a one-year General Practice Residency at the Veteran's Administration Hospital and Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, where he earned dual certificates. He completed his education at the University of Kentucky, specializing in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics and was awarded the Master of Science degree in May of 2000.
He has presented original research at the 1995, 1996 and 2000 International Association of Dental Research Meetings and the 1999 Southern Association of Orthodontists Meeting as well. He has successfully completed the American Board of Orthodontics Phase I examination and is certified as an orthodontic specialist by the Kentucky Board of Dentistry. He is the past President of the University of Kentucky Orthodontic Alumni Association. He has presented continuing education to members of the Pennyrile Dental Society and South Central Dental Hygiene Association.
Dr. Lawless' hobbies include running, weightlifting and golf. He is married to Laura Nell Lawless, who is originally from Metcalfe County. They have three sons: Rob, Drew and Jack. Many of you may know Dr. Lawless' mom, Jan Lawless, who teaches 3rd grade at McNeill Elementary in Bowling Green.
Dr.Ryan Wiesemann
We are very excited that Dr. Ryan Wiesemann has joined the practice. Many of you already know Dr. Wiesemann because he is a Bowling Green native.Dr. Wiesemann attended Bowling Green High School and went to college at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. At Emory, he received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Dr. Wiesemann also played varsity baseball for the Emory Eagles and made three NCAA Tournament appearances. After graduating from Emory he went to the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, where he received his doctorate. While at the University of Louisville, Dr. Wiesemann was the only Student Dentist to simultaneously receive a Master’s degree in Oral Biology. Dr. Wiesemann then headed south to one of only three hospital-based orthodontic programs in the country, Vanderbilt University. He completed Vanderbilt’s three-year orthodontic residency along with a one-year orthodontic fellowship. Dr. Wiesemann currently remains on Vanderbilt’s Staff as a part-time faculty member.
Dr. Wiesemann worked extensively with Dr. Malchow and Dr. Lawless as an assistant and as an intern for the past seven years. Thus, he is not totally new to the practice.
