Types of Braces
There has never been a better time to consider orthodontic treatment at any age! Technology has significantly advanced the field of orthodontics, and there are so many options available to our patients. We offer traditional metal braces, and a clear option. There are even removable options! Patients may often choose colors for their braces.
When it comes to braces treatment, one size does not fit all. Every patient has their own unique needs, and also some particular things they want out of treatment. To help all of our patients get the fit they deserve, we offer several types of braces.
Self-ligating braces use special metal brackets that do not require the use of elastics, meaning fewer appointments and less friction being placed on the tooth which adds to patient comfort. They are the same size as metal braces, but use a specialized clip in place of elastics to help the archwire guide teeth into place.
Clear Ceramic Braces
For those who need the effectiveness of traditional braces but want a more aesthetic choice, ceramic braces are an excellent option. They are made from clear or tooth colored ceramic or porcelain, allowing them to blend in with the teeth. However, they are more delicate, making them an option for adults more than teens or children.
For those with mild to moderate alignment problems, clear aligners are an option. These aligners fit snuggly over the teeth and are made from clear plastic, ensuring that those around you cannot see them. You can remove them when eating, brushing, and flossing, and they are incredibly comfortable, making them a great choice for those who need braces, but don’t want them due to the feel of them, the look of them, or the inconvenience of them.
